Congratulations to the 2016 La Costa Canyon Mavericks on another outstanding season! The Mavericks finished with a record of 15-7 and an Avocado League Title while playing the #3 SOS in the West and #1 SOS in San Diego. LCC finished the season ranked #3 in San Diego, #8 in California, and #10 in the West according to Laxpower. The Mavericks also appeared in their 15 straight CIF Semifinal and won their 13th straight League Title (6 times Co-Champion).

Thank you to our 12 seniors – Michael Rice, Connor Rafferty, Jake McLean, Jack Kagan, Davis Vigil, Garrett DeLeon, Patrick Dahl, Connor Brown, Crew Taylor, Tak Inoue, Daniel Verga, and Pierce Mazcko. It was an outstanding senior class that has left the program in a great place. I expect that the returning Mavericks will be ready to work hard in 2017 and continue the excellence of the classes before them.

This season we had several players selected to the Avocado All-League teams. Congrats to the players that were recognized for their outstanding play.

Crew Taylor – League Player of the Year, 1st Team All-League – No player meant more to the Mavericks than Crew. Whether it was shutting down our opponents #1 offensive player, taking a face off when needed, or rallying the team before a game. Finished second in Caused TO’s (34), second in GB’s (72), and added 5 points (4 goals, 1 assist).
Jake McLean – 1st Team All- League – One of the fiercest competitors we have had in our program. Jake is a do-it-all two way midfielder for us and a scoring threat from anywhere inside the box. Led the team in goals (46), second in points (63), and third in assists (17).
Jack Keen – 1st Team All-League – A left handed attack man that really stepped up his game in his second year starting. Not only led the team in points but shot the ball at an outstanding 50%! He is be once again be one of our offensive leaders in 2017. Led the team in points (64), second in goals (44), second in assists (20)
Pierce Mazcko – 1st Team All-League – A defensive players but equally skilled on the offensive side of the ball. Pierce had several highlight reel plays on both sides of the ball. Led the team in Caused TO’s (48), third in GB’s (65), and 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists)
Andrew Beacham – 2nd Team All-League – One of the most skilled players we have had in the program with the opportunity to become one of the best. Put up big numbers and had some huge games in 2016. I expect him to be a team leader on & off the field in 2017. Led the team in assists (21), third in points (50), and third in goals (29)
Parker MacLean – 2nd Team All-League – A relentless player with the attitude and effort that sets him apart. Parker was the team’s Swiss army knife playing offense, defense, man down, man up, took face offs, and played wings on face offs. Finished the season with 25 points (15 goals, 10 assist) along with 45 GB’s
Kyle Haggerty – 2nd Team All-League – The team “most improved player” in 2016. Kyle proved himself to be a dominant close defense man after earning a starting spot and never giving it up. He will be the backbone of the defense in 2017. Finished third in Caused TO’s (30), scooped up 30 GB’s, and had 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist)
Ryan Winn – Honorable Mention All-League – Ryan has worked very hard and battled through adversity to become the starting goal tender for the Mavericks. He had an impressive season and had some highlight reel saves to help us to a 15-7 record. Finished with a 54% SAA overall and 64% SAA in league
Isaac Smith – Honorable Mention All-League – The teams lone face off player and took more face offs than any player in LCC history! He will now move into sole possession of “most face offs won in a season” in the LCC record book with 263 wins. Took 427 draws and won 263 for a 62% average overall and was 74% in league

GO MAVS!
