Double-overtime heroics kept Bishop Timon-St. Jude undefeated in a cross-country lacrosse clash at home against national power La Costa Canyon (Ca.). Brian Sullivan scored the winner in the 6-5 triumph.

A huge night from goalie David Scarcello (19 saves) and disciplined play up front was the difference, coach Michael Burke said.

“He played outstanding,” Burke said of Scarcello, who is heading to Marist after graduation. “He was seeing the ball real well and stepped up big for us.”

Offensively, Owen Casey scored three goals. This matchup has long-term benefits, too.

“We had four freshman play today so the kids grew up fast,” Burke said. “It’s good for our guys to play the best teams possible.”
